A little bit about myself: I am now over 50. My fiftieth birthday was a surprise to myself and I’m almost glad that there wasn’t a “surprise” party to go along with it. It’s quite shocking to wake up one day and realize that you have become a half a century old. Where did the time go?
That said, I think I’ve accomplished quite a lot. I have been quite productive over the years and have owned and built a few successful businesses. I have had the good fortune of mainly working for myself over that time, except for the first few part time and early carrier jobs. As an owner, I think I have seen it all. Many people think they would love to be their own boss, but its not all its made out to be. For one, nothing happens unless you make it happen. And you can take time off any time you want, which is why most owner/operators work more hours and harder than almost anyone else. The bottom line is that although you’d think you would have the freedom to do almost anything you want, there are almost no end of pitfalls and things to keep you occupied. And failure is lurking around at every corner. And then there are people you have to manage. Don’t get me started….
Sounds like a lot of fun, I know. There are a lot of reasons why I would subject myself to this sort of business model. For one, it has provided me with a certain level of material comfort. But each day I must go to the office and get it done, only I have the added responsibility to encourage the others who work for me to do the same. A pay check can be a very effective motivating tool.
And although I am thankful I have a job that, for the most part, I enjoy, it is still a job. I have successfully bought myself a J.O.B. and I am my own boss. Hooray for me.
That is why I am so happy I decided to embark on a career in the online world. See my profile in Wealthy Affiliate here.
